Pool Sessions
There will be four pool sessions this winter at the Brooklyn Center Community Center Olympic size pool. The sessions will be at least two hours long and may last longer depending on the number of people using the pool. We will only have the session if there are at least ten people, and the cost for each session will be $10. Be sure to wash debris out of your kayak before coming to the pool or you will have to wash it out there. Check the calendar for the date and time of the pool sessions, and be sure to sign up with Don before showing up (we have a maximum number of 20 people per session this year. Non-members can come, but must pay an additional five dollars and sign a waiver.

Winter Paddling
We are putting together a list of people interested in winter day paddles on the Mississippi or other open water. If you want to be notified of a winter paddle, call Don to be put on the list, or email Sarah. We will only be paddling if the temperature is near freezing with minimal winds. A drysuit or wetsuit with adequate insulation is required for winter paddles.

Winter Camping
Winter isn't quite here yet, but it's not too soon to start thinking about trips for January, February and March. Some of us will be doing a trip to the BWCA, as well as some shorter trips along the North Shore and the Superior Hiking Trail. If you would like to join us, learn more about winter camping, or have an idea for a trip in 1999, give Sarah a call.

Standard Memberships (i.e. the $10/year memberships) are no longer available . We apologize, but the ACA has requested that all club members also be ACA members

Web Page
Some of you may have noticed that our Web Page disappeared, but don't worry, we'll have a new one soon. John Ware, who puts together web pages for a living, has generously offered to help us out with a new one. The web page should include the newsletters, calendars, trip reports, and photos- so if you have any good slides or prints of sea kayaking in the area, call John to arrange to have it scanned for the webpage. We'd also like to have a trip report section, so if you would like to describe any paddling trips you did last summer, write it up and get it to John. It may not be up for a week or two, but the new address is: www.virtualmn.com/tcska.

Newsletter Schedule:
We have a newsletter schedule for the end of 98 and all of 99. There will be a special board member election ballot mailed in early January, as well as a calendar of club trips and other activities, but after that the newsletter schedule will be: Jan 15, March 15, July 15th and October 15th.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS:

We will have elections at the beginning of the year, at the annual meeting/party (see date below). Members of the board of directors serve a two-year term, and must be able to meet a minimum of four times a year and take on some additional tasks, such as note taking, keeping books or club records, etc.

If you want to nominate yourself or someone else for the board, use the nomination form at the bottom of the page 2. The January newsletter will contain a ballot that can be mailed in or handed in at the annual party. We will call contact nominees and ask for a short introduction or statement to be included with the ballot.
