Halloween Weekend Trip to Oak Island

Come join us on a trip to Oak Island Halloween Weekend.
Oak Group Site A – Fri 10/27 and Sat 10/28th
Trip Level – III to IV
This is a late season weekend in the Apostle Islands. Please note that any/all weather conditions are possible at this time of year. Accordingly this trip is rated level III to IV. A drysuit is highly recommended – though current conditions at the time may allow for other protective paddle wear.
In prior years we have experienced freezing rain, sleet and snow; overnight temp’s in the mid 20’s that froze dromedary bags solid; and more. Of course it could also be a beautiful warm weekend! Only time will tell. We will be checking weather forecasts as the date draws near.

The plan is to drive up mid-day Friday and launch from Buffalo Bay/Red Cliff. This will be a night launch and paddle. Launch time target to be determined but likely around 8 pm. You should be comfortable paddling in night conditions with possible accompanying wind/waves/weather. Those attendees wishing to avoid the night paddle could of course launch early Friday and complete the paddle to Oak in daylight hours.

This weekend has also been known to include a broad selection of Imperial Stouts! And any other refreshments of your choice.

Please contact Jerome at jerome@skoac.org to sign up for this trip or if you have any questions.
